D-Day has arrived at last ...........!!!!!!!!!!

The day has finally arrived I've emptied Tesco's shelves of Beans, Corned Beef, mashed potato and all sorts of food groups that I'm discouraged from eating at home! I've got the charts, I've made my plans, I've crossed every "T" and dotted every "I" so why am I sitting in the boat feeling so nervous and apprehensive? Well maybe a little fear is a good thing... the wind is howling through the shrouds today and a regatta here has been cancelled so I'm going to delay my departure by 24 hrs. The plan is to leave at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning to catch the strong southerly tide down to Aberdaron which is about 45 miles away where I intend to anchor for the day then off again early heading to Fishguard, then Milford Haven, Padstow, St. Ives and finally Newlyn from where I will plan my crossing of the Channel to Cameret near Brest... Sounds straight forward doesn't it?
Our friends Pete and Louise are down on their boat this week and since it was also Lou's birthday we had a good excuse to have a few beers and a dance at the regatta parties, we even got Elizabeth, Debbie's daughter, to get on the dance floor and thankfully she does not follow her mum's "Morecombe & Wise" style.. See Photo.
Debbie left to drive home today & letting her go was so hard.. next time I see her, if all goes well, will be in La Rochelle at the end of June and I will miss you Debbie my beautiful girl. Thank you for the card Ted & Small.. see you in November.

I will update this blog as often as I'm able and if you feel able to leave me a little note then that would be just lovely.

Hi Dave,

By the time you read this you may already have set sail. It was good to talk to you last Friday and I'm glad you had a good send off from Debbie and Elisabeth.

We're thinking of you and wish you all the best for the trip. You can do it!
