Fish 'n' Chips? - Why not.

Why Holyhead Marina, well I could pretend it was for some jolly good sailing reason like you can get in & out whatever the state of the tide etc. but in truth I tried about half a dozen marinas closer to home and everyone was full. The marina has been in a constant state of expansion since I got there last May and with the demand, there's a 5-yr waiting list at Pwllheli, I expect it to carry on. The marina has been fine, the facilities i.e. showers etc. are modern and in the disabled shower room the floor is heated... ooohhhh!!!! It takes about 2 hrs to get there along the A55 so yes we've been happy there. The main disappointment has been the weather and the number of sailing opportunities we've had which have been few and far between. I had wanted to take Debbie to Dublin or the Isle of Man but it just hasn't happened. In fact this photo, taken by Pete again, of Debbie, Louise and me was one of the few times we've been out and even then the wind failed us.
Holyhead is not a very attractive town however it does have one redeeming feature which is that it has Price's Chip Shop which sell the best fish 'n' chips I have ever had. The chips are crispy and the fish is fried to order in the lightest batter ...heaven. We sit in the graveyard of St. Cybi's church, which sits on top of a 3-walled Roman fort, overlooking the ferry port and watch the world go by.

I expect to cast off on my voyage at the end of May so I am making my final preparations now, I am excited and scared, which is how it should be, I am sad to be leaving Debbie, the love of my life, but I'm happy to be away from her snoring... yes you do Debbie so stop blaming me!!
