Milford Haven to Padstow

This was my longest trip so far about 75 miles across the Bristol Channel, no surprisingly the promised wind didn't turn up so I had to motor all day. I sat on the for deck and started reading, after about two hours a single dolphin turned up and danced around the bow then it disappeared and returned an hour later with 20 of his friends.. it is really fantastic to watch them play, they swim up side down and nibble each other's tails.. really beautiful. Padstow is about a mile up the river Camel and the tidal range here is dramatic, about 8 meters, Padstow has a small inner harbour which opens its lock gates 1 1/2 hours either side of high
tide, if your late you have to pick up a mooring in the river. I was late so no picture of my boat today. I went ashore in the dinghy and had my first hot shower for 4 days... no i had been washing but only in the sea.... bloody cold. Padtow, as Dave & Alison have told us, is very beautiful and full of shops selling pasties, which I tried, and pubs selling good Cornish beer, which I also tried. I had a lovely time here, the beaches are pristine and I walked out along the headland and through the sand dunes.
